East Memphis TN Real Estate

East Memphis is considered to be the area east of Midtown and just inside the I-240 loop to the north and south, with Germantown bordering to the east.

Some of the city's most convenient residential neighborhoods are located on winding lanes just off Poplar Avenue, which is the main thoroughfare thru East Memphis. Large colonial and ranch-style homes are the norm when looking at East Memphis TN real estate. Most homes you will find on beautifully landscaped lots with many huge trees. Because there aren't many large parcels of land, most new development is upscale zero-lot-line homes and condominiums. Many people live in East Memphis for the central location and the lovely neighborhoods as well as it’s central location to just about everything around the town.

East Memphis TN real estate also offers fine dining, entertainment, shopping and more……all the while still offering that all in the neighborhood feeling. Businesses have expanded throughout East Memphis, again due to the great location and ease of transportation to the rest of the midsouth area. The home of the original Corky’s Bar B Q is found in East Memphis as well as the corporate headquarters for International Paper. Also in East Memphis, you can find the campus for the University of Memphis, home to the Memphis Tigers. The U of M is the flagship university of the Tennessee Board of Regents system and awards more than 3,000 degrees annually. Also, Crichton College, the liberal arts college has it’s home in East Memphis. Higher education standards at this college are combined with evangelical Christian faith and intend to relate education to the needs of people in contemporary society.

Specialty restaurants and grocery shopping can also be found in East Memphis. From health food stores to the Fresh Market to the Farmer’s Market, there is a bountiful supply of grocery stores. Restaurant dining can be fast food, simple casual, or fine dining…all can be found within East Memphis as well.

Shelby Farms Park is also in East Memphis. Shelby Farms is one of the largest urban parks in the United States. Park visitors enjoy mountain biking, horseback riding, fishing, walking or jogging. Patriot Lake on the park grounds offers the use of kayaks or small sailboats. Surrounded by wetlands and natural forests, the area is a habitat for many species of wildlife, which can easily, been observed from many of the trails throughout the park. Shelby Farms is also a home to a bison herd.
